Title The World in 2030 by Dr. Michio Kaku
Description The World in 2030: How Science will Affect Computers, Medicine, Jobs, Our Lifestyles and the Wealth of our Nations
Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Dr. Michio Kaku is a theoretical physicist and the Henry Semat Professor at the City College of New York and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where he has taught for more than 30 years. He is a graduate of Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and earned his doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley.

Dr. Kaku is one of the founders of string field theory, a field of research within string theory. String theory seeks to provide a unified description for all matter and the fundamental forces of the universe.

His book The Physics of the Impossible addresses how science fiction technology may become possible in the future. His other books include Hyperspace: A Scientific Odyssey Through Parallel Universes, Time Warps, and the Tenth Dimension , selected as one of the best science books of 1994 by both the New York Times and The Washington Post, and Parallel Worlds: A Journey Through Creation, Higher Dimensions, and the Future of the Cosmos , a finalist for the Samuel Johnson Prize.

he was accepted to the private Sidwell Friends School on a partial scholarship and graduated in 1973.He studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University (where one of his professors was Carl Sagan) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1977. So yeah i think he knows what hes talking about, unlike you, so educate yourself before talking trash about someone

Oh, research I HAVE done. That's why I am so sure of my position. We may not know the entire story, but we're figuring it out piece by piece. And EVEN IF evolution was, somehow, proven false, that in no way speaks about the nature of the universe and how old it is. Nor does it being wrong validate any of the world's religions. All it means is that there is more we don't know. And that's what science is for; finding out what we don't know. Evolution will stand it's ground, mark my words.

Thank you

"The thing about smart mother **** ers is, they sound like crazy mother **** ers to dumb mother **** ers." And I quote. :)

OnRock19

I don't like the future anymore, and surely don't need internet on my eyes. We will become completely dumb if these things are created.

MrBryceswenson

no but it does make the difference in careers of a scientist and an actor, bill nye is not qualified to talk about the majority of things he comments on

MrBryceswenson

evolution is a far stretch form likely, the sun skipping every stage of its life and going super nova right now is far more probable. i'm not sure how life formed, but it wasn't through Darwins evolution

MrBryceswenson

You don't know much about Bill Nye do you? He never when to collage for science. He was given an honorary degree because of his show. if he is a scientist i'm an astronaut.

HiPPoKryPtiC

ehhh **** this know it all, im going back to COLORS **** ING LIVE BABY... seriously someone type in " BTBAM best solos" hear some real beauty

HiPPoKryPtiC

-MOVIE IDEA- >famous scientist is living his life of discovery and fulfillment -software upload "Scientist, you are not actually a human. You are in fact a brain grown by harnessing your DNA and recreating your brain organ (Much like the organs in this video are created). We could build your brain, but to make it functional and 'bring you back to life', we had to make your new brain (living in a jar) experience the same things you experienced through your real lifetime. >scientist freaks out

ThinkTank255

Dr. Kaku's views on Artificial Intelligence are simply wrong. Watson beat humans at Jeopardy. We have computers that can access the ENTIRE knowledge of humanity in 2 seconds. As far as pattern recognition TREMENDOUS progress has been made in these areas. He DID NOT visit the top labs in the world in AI. His definition of AI is, apparently, a robot with arms and legs that can "think". That's simply NOT what AI is. AI is GOOGLE. AI is WATSON. AI is GROK. ETC....

ThinkTank255

To be fair, I think Dr. Kaku KNOWS he is misrepresenting his views on AI (he's not stupid), and he is doing it for POLITICAL reasons. I simply do not agree with his political motivations.

Reaxident

This would be called fear. If the internet could make you dumb in your eyes, it would make you dumb on a computer as well. That's like saying "I have a smart phone so I think less". The more tools we have, the further we can push ourselves as humans. Sure the lazies will probably get worse, but that's when natural selection really kicks in.
